Rwandans both in Rwanda and abroad are eagerly waiting for the presidential elections in July 2024. Preparations are underway, and artists are playing a key role in the campaign.
As the election fever increases, different artists have hit the studio to record campaign songs for their favourite candidates ahead of the July General Elections. For the first time ever, the Rwandan community abroad have released a youth All-star track titled Ni Wowe to back the RPF flag bearer HE Paul Kagame.

One of the artists featuring on the song said: ‘’From 1959 to 1994, many Rwandans were forced to live in other countries as refugees, but thanks to HE Paul Kagame, we are living abroad as proud citizens of Rwanda and as the Rwandan Diaspora. Unlike our parents and grandparents, we are not called ´kanyarwanda’. The shame that was associated with being a Rwandan 30 years ago has been replaced with enormous pride of Ndi Umunyarwanda. ‘’

Kurama Pius / Student at Vistula University

One of the singers, Kurama Pius, stated that he and his colleagues decided to compose the song because they love President Kagame, who they consider an inspiration for their future.

Lolita Umutoni added that they created this song to participate in the campaign as Rwandans living abroad, something that has never happened before.

Lolita Umutoni / RCA Poland

This song in not just a vote of confidence in the President but a musical narrative that conveys how Rwanda has metamorphosed from an international laughing stock to an international example of revival. This song shows how Rwanda has turned her regrettable mess of the murderous madness of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi into a message of resilience and reconciliation. This song vividly expresses how the RPF under the leadership of Paul Kagame have transformed a failed state into a model state that every Rwandan living abroad is happy to call home.

Ados Muzika / Singer , Composer & Rapper

Ados muzika also stated that “This song is my only way of saying thank you to the President and to assure him that we will never fail him. We cannot wait to vote for him on the 14th of July”

The artists believe that this song will contribute to the energy and vibes during the campaign, and they look forward to seeing the President and the people dance to it.

The song, titled “NIWOWE,” is currently in the video production stage, and the artists plan to release it once it is completed. The artists involved in the project include Kurama Pius, Birungi Specy, Kwizera Moses, Iraguha Bienfais ( Ados Muzika ), Ngabo Evode, Habimana John, Mutabaruka Eddy, Tumukunde Salma, Karemera Calvin Paul, Kelly Sinzihara, Ornella Umukundwa, Murinzi Derrick, Umutoni Lolita, and Igor Kayisire.
