In a remarkable display of solidarity and progress, around 500 individuals from both Rwanda and Sweden congregated in Stockholm to commemorate three decades of Rwandese women’s accomplishments and advancements in gender equality. Organized by RWAS (Rwanda Women in Sweden) in collaboration with the Rwandan embassy in Nordic (Sweden), the event saw the participation of diplomats from various countries alongside Rwandan communities residing in Norway, Denmark, France, Finland and England, all coming together to celebrate International Women’s Day.

The significance of this occasion was underscored by Deputy Director in the MoFA/Sweden Anna-Maria Olsson , who highlighted the collaborative efforts between Rwanda and Sweden towards gender equality across all sectors on the global stage. Former Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jan Eliasson, lauded Rwanda’s exemplary progress, attributing the nation’s development to its commitment to gender equality, with special commendation extended to President Paul Kagame for his steadfast dedication.
