 Celebrating Cultural Diversity: Rwandan Culture Shines at Żwirki i Wigury University Event in Poland

On May 18, 2024, a vibrant cultural ceremony was held at the university located at Żwirki i Wigury 61, 02-091 Warszawa, in Poland. Students from different countries came together to showcase their traditional cultures and products, offering a rich tapestry of global heritage.

The event featured exhibitors from Rwanda, Burundi, Taiwan, Pakistan, India, Ukraine, Iran, Syria, Korea, Lebanon, Palestine, Peru, and Malaysia.

Prof. Zbigniew Gaciong, one of the university’s leaders, officially opened the event, welcoming all participants and encouraging them to engage with the exhibitors to learn more about their diverse cultures.

Rwandan and Burundian students collaborated to display a variety of items, including tea, clothing, decorative items, and handicrafts, all proudly made in Rwanda and Burundi.

 An interview with Iwacu Times revealed that their joint effort stemmed from their neighboring countries’ shared cultural heritage and similar languages.

“We decided to come together as brothers to showcase our culture here in Poland and to demonstrate that, even though we are abroad, we carry our culture with us,” one student explained.

The event’s theme, “Diversity,” was further highlighted by performances of traditional dances from various countries, presented by the university’s students.

Among the performers was BALLET ICYEZA, a group of Rwandans living in Poland, who delighted the audience with traditional Rwandan dances. The participants expressed great satisfaction with the captivating performances.

Students from other countries also had the opportunity to display their cultural heritage through traditional dances and various exhibits, making the event a true celebration of global diversity and unity.
