The #DusangireLunch campaign, launched by the Rwandan Ministry of Education in partnership with Mobile Money Rwanda and Umwalimu SACCO, aims to provide nutritious meals to every child in school.

The initiative builds on the success of the national school feeding program, which has significantly improved children’s nutritional intake, school enrollment, retention, and performance since its expansion in 2021. This campaign seeks to engage parents and the community in supporting these efforts by making contributions to ensure that all children receive a healthy lunch at school.

Currently, the government covers 90% of the school feeding costs, while parents contribute approximately 1000 Rwandan Francs per trimester. The campaign promotes community involvement by making it easy for parents and others to donate, ensuring that the program reaches its goal of feeding 3.9 million students across 4,500 schools.

Mobile Money Rwanda pledges to provide 10,000 students in one year (worth Rwf 30,000,000)  while Umwalimu SACCO, we pledge to provide lunch to 8,500 kids for the period of 2 years (worth Rwf 51,000,000).

How to Participate from DIASPORA:

Rwandans in the DIASPORA and friends can now participate in this campaign through partners like World Remit, Western Union, REmitly, TalkRemit, m-pesa and others.

To contribute to #DusangireLunch from DIASPORA, send to 250794101177. Remember, only Frw 1,000 feeds a child for the whole trimester and Frw 3,000 feeds a child for the whole school year!

Join us and help ensure every child gets a decent meal at school.
