Belgium is home to a large Rwandan community, including many who came for education and work and have since established roots with families, children, and grandchildren. Even while living abroad, Rwandans continue to celebrate their rich culture and ensure their children grow up connected to their heritage. Events celebrating Rwandan traditions play a vital role in fostering these connections, especially for younger generations.

In line with this, ‘East African Vibes’ has organized a cultural event titled Traditional Night set for Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the Birmingham Event Center in Brussels, a popular concert venue. Doors will open at 2:00 p.m.

The event will feature notable artists, including Ruti Joël and Lionel Sentore, a prominent performer based in Belgium. Also joining is the Rwandan traditional dance troupe ICYEZA, formed by young Rwandans studying in Poland.

ICYEZA emerged from a shared passion for preserving Rwandan culture, creating a space for Rwandan youth to reconnect with their roots and showcase their heritage abroad. Their performances have become a proud symbol of cultural resilience, as they keep traditional dance and music alive far from home. Additionally, Burundian drummers will add to the night’s vibrancy with their powerful rhythms.

Adding to the lively atmosphere, DJs DJ Princess Flor, DJ Azam, DJ Selecta Mauriceh, and DJ Saido will bring energy to the night.

Traditional Night will highlight Rwandan dance, music, and instruments like the drum, showcasing the beauty of Rwandan culture to younger generations and friends of Rwanda alike. Organizers shared with IGIHE that the event is an ideal opportunity to come together and celebrate as the year draws to a close.
