Sankara Ruzindana Alex, a Rwandan diaspora member who spent years in Poland, has returned home to make a significant contribution to his country’s development. After completing his studies and work in Poland, Sankara chose to return to Rwanda with a clear vision: to use the skills and knowledge he gained abroad to benefit his homeland. During his time in Poland, Sankara was the Chairman of the Rwandan Diaspora community, where he played a key role in organizing and growing the Rwandan society. In a recent interview with IMITARI YouTube channel, he mentioned how the number of Rwandans in Poland has increased significantly over the past five years. His leadership helped create a close-knit and supportive community of Rwandans living abroad.

Sankara is not just a leader he is also a talented vocal music artist and a passionate footballer. While studying International Relations at University of Łódź in Poland, he played for several football teams, including the Rwandan team, RCA Football Team. His love for football and his desire to see the sport flourish in Rwanda motivated him to take action once he returned home.

After completing his studies, Sankara decided to return to Rwanda because he always dreamed of using what he gained abroad to contribute to his country’s development. He believes that Rwandans living abroad are unique in their sense of responsibility and love for their homeland. “Compared to other African diasporas, Rwandans always think about their country and return home to make a difference. This shows our integrity, identity, and love for Rwanda,” Sankara said.

One of Sankara’s biggest goals was to build a football pitch where everyone, including children, could have access to a quality place to play. Along with his co-founder, Alex Musyoka, he established San Siro 7 Aside Pitch in Kigali, Rwanda. This facility offers a well-maintained football pitch where people can enjoy the game, and children can have a safe and fun environment to play.

The idea behind San Siro 7 Aside Pitch is that Rwanda is growing rapidly, and the old image of children playing in the streets is fading. Sankara and his team wanted to provide a modern space for football lovers to enjoy the game in style. He explained that the pitch also creates job opportunities for Rwandans, from ground maintenance to organizing events and managing the facility.

Sankara is passionate about creating more opportunities through sports and making a difference in people’s lives. The pitch has already started hosting football tournaments, which bring the community together and promote healthy competition and fun.

In his interview, Sankara encouraged other Rwandan diaspora members to return home and invest in different sectors. “Rwanda needs us,” he said, urging others to use their experiences and skills to help develop the country. He also expressed his appreciation for the Rwandan government, saying, “The government has been incredibly supportive, creating an environment where diaspora members can return home and contribute to Rwanda’s success.”

Be Part of the Legacy at San Siro

If you are in Kigali and want to enjoy football in a modern, fun environment, visit San Siro 7 Aside Pitch. Whether you’re looking to play football, host a tournament, or simply have fun, San Siro is the perfect place to be.
