Warsaw, December 3, 2023 – The Spouses of Head of Diplomatic Missions (SHOM) International Charity Bazaar celebrated its 16th edition today, with Rwanda leading the spotlight among the 50 countries that have their embassies in Poland. The event, attended by the First Lady of Poland, Agata Kornhauser-Duda, aimed to showcase the diverse cultures, tastes, and traditions of nations with diplomatic missions in the country, all while contributing to local charities and foundations.

Representatives from various embassies, including Germany, France, Hungary, Indonesia, China, Mexico, India, Saudi Arabia, and more, gathered at the prestigious event, transforming Warsaw into a global cultural melting pot.

This year, Rwanda took center stage as it joined the SHOM Executive Committee, with the spouse of the Ambassador of Rwanda in Poland representing the nation. The Rwandan Embassy sought to make a lasting impression by presenting the richness of its culture through a traditional dance performance by Itorero “Icyeza” and offering a taste of Rwanda with coffee, tea, and art crafts.

Ballet Icyeza, a renowned cultural ensemble, mesmerized visitors with vibrant dance routines, presenting the unique cultural heritage of Rwanda. Attendees had the opportunity to savor the flavors of Rwanda with hot tea and coffee available on-site while exploring the country’s artistic side through unique art crafts.

The Rwandan Embassy played a essential role in organizing and coordinating the event, overseeing various aspects such as the First Lady Protocol, Public Relations, Media & Journalists, and event management.

The commitment to actively participate in such international gatherings reflects Rwanda’s dedication to promoting cultural exchange and fostering diplomatic relations on a global stage.

As the 16th SHOM International Charity Bazaar came to a close, attendees left with a deeper appreciation for the cultural diversity represented by the participating nations, and the event’s success will undoubtedly contribute to the charitable causes supported by SHOM.
